In this interview, we’ll get to know more about Mara Fiona or Mara Fiona Constantinescu, a blogger (, model, student, and designer.

Mara has been persistently chased her dream of having a successful blog, even after two failed attempts.

In this interview, we’ll get an inside on how she was able to overcome those hurdles, and how she was able to finally achieve her goal of becoming a successful blogger.

Mara Fiona

Can you please share with us your blogging journey so far?

Mara: I’m going, to be honest with you, this is my third blog. Things didn’t work out with my previous 2 blogs. My first blog was in English about fitness and the second one was in French about art.

With the first blog, I got a lot of negative comments. I then thought it would be a good idea to write about something more selective, which couldn’t be understood by everyone.

So, I started a new blog about art. However, this too didn’t work out because I had difficulties reaching an audience here in Romania. Then, about a year ago, I started my current blog and I told myself the 3rd time is going to be my luckiest one (smiling).

Can you open-up about your 3rd blog

Mara: This blog is about me giving the best of myself to my audience. I write about things I am passionate about and have experience-in. I give styling tips because I have learned a lot about fashion over the years.

Also, I write about how to improve one’s self-image because I struggled it with for years.

I don’t want to be a blogger who writes about things they have no experience on. I want to help others with what I have learned through my struggles.

James: Deep. I mentioned this interview to a friend of mine, and he was interested to know your mission with your blog. Do you mind telling us about that?

Mara: I’ll be honest with you, when I first started my blog, I was thinking more about myself. Today, I am proud to say I have reached a point where my intention with my blog is all about helping others.

I think it’s important to be there for others because by raising others, you grow and also raise yourself in the process. People recognize your importance when they feel you are offering them something important, like support and information. That is what my blog is all about.

How did you deal with the failure of your two previous blogs?

Mara: At first, I got…, I won’t say depressed because I don’t want to downplay the severity of depression. However, I felt like I couldn’t do anything right, even with my education. At one point, I was crying almost every night thinking of a way to get out of this phase.

I was eventually able to do so without professional help. It is something I am very proud of myself for. Also, my parents were very supportive, even though at the time I was not able to see it in that way.

After overcoming such a stressful period in your life, how do you now deal with stress?

Mara: I meditate. I think practicing mindfulness during difficult times is very important. It gives you clarity to help yourself out.

What is makes you stand out from other bloggers?

Mara: My personality. I appreciate it more when people tell me I am intelligent than when they tell me I am pretty. Having a bright mind and having the confidence to show it, in my opinion, makes a person look prettier.

How ambitious would you say you are?

Mara: I used to be really good at school in primary school. I got good grades. Then in high school, I started struggling. I went from being one of the best students to have not so good grades. My self-confidence fell apart.

When I got into the university, I decided to reclaim my spot as a top student. With hard work and determination, I was able to make it happen. So, to answer your question I’ll say, I am the most ambitious I have ever been.

James: Congratulations!

Mara: Thank you!

In which city do you see yourself pursuing your career as a designer and blogger?

Mara: Paris is my first option, followed by London as my second.

James: Why not Bucharest?

Can you tell us, 5 successful women, you truly appreciate?

Mara: I have three huge inspirations in the Fashion industry:

Coco Chanel is my number one inspiration because she knew how to work her way to the top. Even though she worked and collaborated with others, she didn’t expect someone to offer her success. She went for it herself.

More than that, she revolutionized fashion and we owe her almost everything we’re wearing today.

The second is Maria Grazia Chiuri, a designer for Dior. Her creations really bring feminine factors back to the fashion industry. Something that has been gradually declining.

The third is Marlyn Monroe. I like that she had the power to influence both women and men. I also admire that she didn’t do it by bossing people around. There was just something about her that gave her the power to do so.

That’s something I seek for in my personality and personal life.

Apart from the fashion industry, my Mom and Grandma are also women I really appreciate in my life. I am very lucky to have the type of bond I have with my mom.

As for my grandma, she grew up during a time when things were tough. I admire that she managed to survive those times, and ended up making something great of herself.

That is awesome. Do you mind sharing your biggest goal with us?

Mara:  I want to travel the world to meet people from different cultures. It is something I have wanted to do since I was a child. I also want to be a leader.

Since my Blog is about personal finance, I am sure people would want to know about your financial goals

Mara: I think money is important because you can’t travel or do business without money. I am aiming for a big success, so I make sure I think about it daily. By doing so, I am conditioning my mind for success. That’s the big secret of a billionaire mind.

How would you describe yourself in one word?

Mara: ENOUGH. I struggled for so many years of my life thinking that I’m not. But right now, I’m proud to say: I am ENOUGH. I hope your readers will fully understand the privilege of being able to say that… I find it the biggest compliment.

What advice do you have for someone who is in doubt right now?

Mara: To take a good look in the mirror and ask themselves what their worth is and who they are when nobody’s watching. Most of the time, our doubts and insecurities come from the fear of social rejection and limitation. We should sometimes let that inner, agile child make decisions for us.

Thank you, Mara Fiona, for accepting my invitation. I wish you all the best.
