My name is Okila James and welcome to my blog on all about personal finance and tips for creating wealth.

So you might be wondering, why I have decided to start a blog? To answer that question, we’ll have to go back to where it all started. Born into a poor family, there were certain subjects we were not allowed to talk about. One in particular was treated like a taboo. Do you want to take a guess? Money, yep the big old bad guy that was to be perceived as something evil.

As a kid I remember my uncles cursing and getting all walked up whenever they were having a discussion about their sister who was financially wealthy. Ever since, from such a young age, whenever money was mentioned, a picture, clear as day always popped into my mind. It was a picture of rich people as crooks. I mean if they had a lot of the big old bad guy, that makes them bad too, right?

Fast Forward years into my life with overwhelming educational moments from a great teacher, I came to the realization that this was not the case. As a teenager,  I started noticing that the same person my uncles were calling a crook, was our family’s problem solver. To make it simple, she was a provider, security and the savior of the family. The funny thing is, even though you can’t see or touch my teacher, he is known by every living being. He is the one and only MR. LIFE EXPERIENCE.    The thing is, most of us come from upbringings where we are taught the basics of education and principles like honesty, pride in our roots, hard work and so on. But such a life defining subject as money and how to manage it, is not being taught. Not by our parents nor our educational system.

So the main goal of my blog is to share what I  have learned, what I am learning and different ways to create wealth. So you might be wondering whether I am a guru or a millionaire? The answer is I am neither, but a man with a burning desire to evolve. In addition to sharing my knowledge, I also hope this blog will hold me accountable and push me to be financially smarter and eventually, to be financially free. so, let start the journey.
